DAILY CREATE: Week 12

This week, we made blackout poems and posted our favorite quote, we described our dream job and showed off a meaningful object, we used three words to describe a favorite song and we added to an image of a roadblock! In terms of posting, my favorite two daily's were the meaningful object and the dream job. I like showing off arts and crafts that I've done, because I created them for me, not for school or for a job. Art for the sake of art does good things to your heart.Speaking of which, I liked creating the Bob Ross quote,…

DAILY CREATE: Week 11

This week, we created a Pixar story and made pop art, we tessellated an object and summed up our Twitter account in one Gif, we thought of a misleading sign and posted an image of a beautiful gas station! My favorite daily's this time were probably the object tessellation and the pop art. The tessellation task was neat because I learned about a program that creates a tessellation out of the user's design. I chose to do a Mondrian square tessellation because I was inspired by the fact that you can actually make some cool programs based on Mondrian's art!As…

DAILY CREATE: Week 10

Ds106 caught on in a flash (it was a graveyard smash)! This week, we got into the spirit of Halloween with monster-themed daily's! We talked about what monster we are most like and we created a monster of our own, we talked about haunted houses and showed off our Halloween costumes, we talked about famous 80's movie actors and shared what's in our fridge (that last one is the scariest of all if there's nothing good to eat).Discussion-wise my favorite daily was the universal monster task. I found out that a fellow Ds106-er is a huge fan of the Vampire…

A CONNECTED STORY: The Hermit and no one

This week, we did our usual daily creates, but with a twist! I love a good twist on an existing idea, so I was excited to take my daily's and try and come up with a way to tie them all together into a singular story. I like writing just about as much as I like drawing, designing, or programming, so I couldn't wait until I had my usual 6 daily creates to finish up my narrative. I'm not sure how I came up with this story about an old woman; I think I just tried to imagine myself as…

DAILY CREATE: Week 8

This week, we colored a TV show and made scribble monsters, we made snowflakes and showcased an ideal font, we talked about our dream life and picked a song that brings back memories! I liked all the daily creates this week, so it's going to be hard to choose a favorite, although I will say this about a couple of the daily's-Thinking about the past and future is a little bittersweet, so I'll leave the memories in the past and stick in a pin in the future, because it hasn't happened yet. To quote the great Ricky Nelson- "if memories…

DAILY CREATE: Week 7

This week, we drew a favorite cartoon and played emoji karaoke, found creative billboards and visualized vocabulary, drew our dream home and gave ourselves an award! I definitely deserve the 'Over-doing it' Award. Case in point- I always do 6 daily creates, even though the requirement is only 3. I wanted to award myself with 'Most Exhausted Student,' but Lauren Perez beat me to the chase. My favorite daily create this week was where we had to find a word on the Merriam Webster Dictionary site and draw a picture of the word. I liked doing this daily for multiple reasons:1)…

DAILY CREATE: Week 6

This week, we cut up photos and drew favorite animals, we thought about old 80's products and we made wanted posters, we exemplified the word GUMPTION and we did a collaborative draw! My favorite daily create was the community whiteboard because I didn't know that that program existed. I love whiteboards in general, and if I see one, I HAVE to draw on it. It beckons to me to doodle on its pristine white surface. Case in point: during photography week, I went to a friend's house for a party and she had a whiteboard. I didn't get to post…

DAILY CREATE: Week 5

In the name of the Moon, I will punish you! This week, we came up with candle scent names and created an alphabet mess, we captioned the 80's and took movie quotes out of context, we went on a nature walk and we drew a fictional friend. It's hard to pick a favorite daily create because they're all fun to do. My favorite discovery was 'Sledgehammer,' because even though I had heard the song before, I had never seen the video (or didn't remember it). The stop motion is incredible, and must have taken a very long time to do! My…

DAILY CREATE: Week 4

This week, we celebrated 80's themed drinks and 80's icons, beloved pencils and Dot Day, and...college I guess? And we started a new trend talked about what trend we would start if we had that kind of power (what power? The power of voodoo (who do?) You do). My trend would be Victorian era fans, because Trinkle is a million degrees even in the middle of Summer. My favorite Daily Create was the themed drink, because I worked at a liquor store for 7 years! Customers would always ask us for recipes, and we had a recipe book with recipes…

DAILY CREATE: Week 3

From Weird Science to Presidential Parodies, this has been quite the week for daily creates! We only had to do 3 this week, but I attempt to do 6 each week because they're really fun to do and I'm an over-achiever. Don't be too jelly T-Swift; I have to over-exert myself because I don't know how to calm down. My anxiety doesn't let me.(Why is it 6 and not 7? Because even I need one day to decompress from creative stuff). Daily Creates: #6 https://twitter.com/jupiter_pop/status/1172250056130514945 #5 https://twitter.com/jupiter_pop/status/1171892038507388929 #4 https://twitter.com/jupiter_pop/status/1171552346054283264 #3 https://twitter.com/jupiter_pop/status/1171157871612051456 #2 https://twitter.com/jupiter_pop/status/1170738399189307392 #1 https://twitter.com/jupiter_pop/status/1170374427701383169
