DS106: YOUR HIT MUSIC STATION

Radio Bumper After listening to the jams on Ds106 Radio, I tried my hand at making a radio bumper. I've made a fake TV bumper before, but not one for radio, so this was interesting. Although I have Adobe CC and could have used Audition, I opted for using Audacity, since the User Interface of it looked easy enough to learn within a short amount of time. (Adobe tends to have a steeper learning curve, comparatively). Once I familiarized myself with Audacity, I searched for a cool 80's synth beat in Soundcloud under Creative Commons. I chose 'SYNTH FUNK -…

I'll admit that audio is probably my weakest link out of all the artistic modes of expression. I'm naturally a visual person, and my brain has a hard time keeping up with audio. If a professor speed talks through a lecture, I most likely did not process anything that was said (cough Data101 cough, excuse me).…

WEEKLY SUMMARY: Week 4

Take On Visual Media This week, our photography skills were put to the test as we did 12 stars worth of visual assignments, a photoblitz, a photo analysis, and a photo reflection. Phew! That's a lot of photo taking. I think I'll be gone in a day or two to decompress. https://imgur.com/gallery/TMbfP Photo Reflection: I kicked things off by reflecting on my current/previous experience with photography in my post, 'GOTTA GET THAT, THAT THAT (Picture).' I do have previous experience in photo taking from my time at George Mason, where I learned all about rule-of-thirds, foreground/background, lighting, etc. We also…

DAILY CREATE: Week 4

This week, we celebrated 80's themed drinks and 80's icons, beloved pencils and Dot Day, and...college I guess? And we started a new trend talked about what trend we would start if we had that kind of power (what power? The power of voodoo (who do?) You do). My trend would be Victorian era fans, because Trinkle is a million degrees even in the middle of Summer. My favorite Daily Create was the themed drink, because I worked at a liquor store for 7 years! EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY

What makes a photo iconic? What makes it a good story? After reading, Becoming a Better Photographer, I had a pretty good idea. To tell a story, you need to capture the moment. The mood. The essence of what is happening. The photo should create small narratives within the viewer's mind and elicit a thousand little questions. (Who is this migrant mother? What era is she from? Why is this leopard seal bringing the photographer penguins? Where were these photos taken? How did the photographer capture this moment)?
